Teaching and Workshops.

Here you will find links and information about Pembrokeshire Thatch and Carpentry Services' Teaching and Workshops.

We can travel to your University, Museum, School or training venue to give hands on demonstrations and workshops in sustainable and traditional thatching with a convenient ground level training roof jig which avoids any working at height issues.

Using straw, reed or heather and from the iron age through to historic then traditional or modern styles. Talks and power point presentations with a mill stone and threshing demonstration to explain the whole process of harvesting, threshing, thatching cordage making, winnowing, milling and very often followed by a freshly baked loaf to taste from our Welsh wheat fields.

For anyone interested from rural studies, teaching conservation groups and heritage areas - please drop me a line to arrange details and to discuss rates and dates.

Wetlands management talks are also catered for. I have some considerable experience in wetland management including harvesting water reed for a variety of uses including biomass fuel and thatching grade reed - all tailored to accommodate nature conservation and lowering the thatcher's carbon footprint.

Both Dafydd Driver and I have Disclosure & Baring Service Certificates, please contact us if you wish to view them.
